Letterpress Holiday: Handmade Cards

It's    that    time    of    year    again !
Find  your  address  list,  purchase  some  stamps, and  order  your  cards!

And  although  photo-cards   are   most   popular,
Letterpress    Cards    are    worth    looking    into
....especially   if   you'd   like   something   new   and   different   this   year.

What    is    Letterpress  ?
It's   "relief   printing:  printing   from
a   plate   with   raised   characters."

Basically    it's    the    "old-timey"    way    of    printing
which yields the most beautiful designs and impressions on heavy, luxurious paper!!

Look    closely    and    you'll    see    the    impressions
left   by   characters pressed into
thick ,   fine - quality    papers...

All of the cards here come from sellers on etsy
(Click  on  orange  lettering  below  each  card  to  go  directly  to  its  site)

There are many small printing companies selling on etsy and elsewhere
who create a range of designs, greetings, and themes.
Cards range from fun, casual designs to those with
traditional greetings and motifs
...all    you    have    to    do    is    choose!

Look  at  the  snowflakes  in  the  snow  globe  above.   There  is  no  color;
only  impressions  made  without  ink!   See  also  how  the  "Happy  Holidays"
in  red  ink  has  been  pressed  deep  into  the  heavy  paper.

Each   piece   is   printed   by   hand,
usually  on  vintage/antique  printing  presses.

There's   just   no   comparison
between  letterpress  cards
and  mass-produced  holiday  cards!

Most  printers/sellers  are  happy  to  set  up  a  custom  order...
whether  it  be  a  certain  number  of  cards  you  need,

Dot-to-dot,  "Let  it  Snow,  Let  it  Snow"  Letterpress  Christmas  cards

you'd  like  to  have  them  personalized,

Letterpress Holiday Cards, "Be Merry"

or  you'd  like  a  selection  of  cards  as  opposed  to  just  one  design....

Flexibility  is  just  one  of  the  nice  things  about  working  with  etsy  sellers!

Season's  Greetings  Deer, Letterpress,  folded  cards

I just ordered mine last week (from moontree press)
-- that's after having purchased quite a few "all-occasion" cards (from dutchdoor) --
and I can't wait for them to get in!!
So,  check  out  a  couple  of  these  sites...
and  this  year,  get   your  cards   done  in  time  to  enjoy  your  holidays!
